Meet the Founder

Hey, I’m Melanie—founder of Howl at the Spoon and flavor-obsessed creative who believes that good food shouldn’t require a culinary degree, a clean kitchen, or a 40-minute prep window.

Before this, I spent 15 years building brands for companies big and small. I lived the fast-paced, screen-lit, agency life—until I realized I was chasing deadlines and forgetting to feed myself real food. The kind of food that feels grounding, energizing, nourishing… and exciting. So I started chasing that instead.

Howl at the Spoon was born not from some corporate brainstorm, but from late-night ideas, night classes at community college, and a deep craving for something better. I didn't grow up in a kitchen empire. I didn’t have a family recipe passed down. I built this brand from curiosity, feedback, hard work, and the belief that sauce—good sauce—could be a little rebellious, a little cheeky, and still deeply nourishing.

I created this company for people like me (and probably like you):

  • People juggling too much
  • People who want to eat well without overthinking it
  • People who care about the planet but still want flavor that slaps
  • People trying their best in a world that is… a lot

If this sounds like you, welcome. I’m truly grateful you’re here. Whether you’re ripping a pouch in your car, drizzling over tofu, or adding it to your kid’s lunchbox—thank you for letting Howl at the Spoon be part of your real life.

Here’s to more joy, more flavor, and fewer mystery bottles in the fridge.

With gratitude,
Melanie Jenkinson
